Tropical storm lee update.  Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and New Orleans lie on its path and they are preparing to face the onslaught of a powerful tropical storm

Tropical Storm Lee has lost some ferocity. But reports suggest that it can still create havoc in areas lying on its path. The rains and ferocious storm are dreaded combination that may be falling within no time on the US Gulf coast.

Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana besides New Orleans are going to be the prime target of the tropical storm lee and it already in many places an emergency has been announced to tackle it and its devastating aftermath. Just a week ago Hurricane Irene had affected millions of people in many states including New Jersey and New York and many places in those areas are still facing the brunt of the Hurricane Irene.

Meanwhile people in many areas, especially the areas closer to coast are praying that the tropical storm loses much of its intensity before it hits the state. The memories of Hurricane Katrina are as fresh as an incident that happened yesterday and people are not prepared to face any more deadly storms.

The tropical storm which has major potential of very heavy rains storm was expected to pour down up to 51cm of rain in Louisiana in the next couple of days besides in areas in New Orleans.

US National Hurricane Center has said that Lee has the potential of flooding in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal has said that the state is prepared to face the aftermath of the Lee and announced a state of emergency in the state. While making the announcement he said, “We have severe weather warnings and tornado warnings in effect for parts of the state and residents everywhere need to use extreme caution…”Tropical Storm Lee is moving slowly, as expected, and we are already seeing flooded roads and other effects from rising water levels throughout South Louisiana.”
