Alappuzha: CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan demands the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy resign from the position in the aftermath of the court’s initial assumption in the controversial Palm Oil case.
The court has meant that Oommen Chandy could be a culprit in the case. The court could have announced Chandy as a culprit. But it suggested one more enquiry on its benevolence, Pinarayi said. That is why Mr. Chandy should quit the Chief Ministerial position, he wanted.
The situation is like that the Chief Minister is investigating against the Chief Minister, Pinarayi said. Though he discarded the Vigilance department, the Home Ministry is still with the CM.
Hence, if Mr. Chandy has any respect towards the Democratic system, he should stay away from the position. The left front will conduct a protest program over the issue on August 23. The program should give vent for people’s sentiment against the state government’s unjust steps in the issue.
CPI state secretary C.K Chandrappan also reiterated the demand. The accused Chief Minister should quit the position and resume the investigation, he added. Both the left leaders were talking in the Sakav Krishnapillai death commemoration function in Alappuzha.
