Kannur: The former CPI (M) member Berlin Kunnananthan Nair gets police security. The move is taken by the state government as the commemorative public meeting on late P Krishnapillai is to take place in Narath, the home place of Berlin in Kannur district.
The dismissed CPM leader has been under the threat from the CPI (M) activists due to his annoying interventions into the political activities of the party in the state.
Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy announced the police security for Mr. Kunnananthan. The Chief Minister has directed the district collector to provide enough security for the dissident left leader.
Mr. Kunnananthan recently came into the media attention with the Opposition Leader of V.S Achuthanandan’s recent meeting with him. Several CPI-M leaders and activists blamed V.S for meeting Berlin.
After Achuthanandan’s visit, Berlin made large criticisms against the party and its state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan. Berlin is said to be in rapport with the V.S group of the CPI-M, while he severely criticizes the Pinarayi Vijayan (the official) group in the party.
