Chandigarh: The Govt, of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi is providing financial assistance to Voluntary Organizations (registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (XXI of 1860) or any relevant Act of the State/UT ) working for Scheduled Castes for the purpose of Vocational Training including Skill Development Programmes, Education including school and professional education and service activities including running of dispensaries both static and mobile etc. and for these purposes, the scheme covers 40 various projects for which assistance is provided.
The Voluntary Organizations should have been registered for at least two years, at the time of applying for grant. The number of SC beneficiaries should not be less than 60% in the project under which Voluntary Organization has applied. The main objective behind the scheme is to involve the voluntary sector and training institutions of repute to improve educational and socio-economic conditions of the target group i.e. Scheduled Castes with a view to upgrade skill to enable them to start income generating activities on their own or get gainfully employed in some sector or the other. The Govt, of India have provided 90% financial assistance of the approved expenditure and remaining expenditure is to be met by the concerned Voluntary Organizations from its own sources. No capitation or other similar fees or donation in any form from shall be charged from any beneficiaries. The Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration has invited applications for the year 2011-2012 from the Voluntary Organizations to get financial assistance under the scheme. All the eligible Voluntary Organizations are requested to send their applications in prescribed form complete in all respect to the undersigned within 15 days.
