Chandigarh: The Finance-cum-Education Secretary V.K.Singh inaugurated the State Level Exhibition under the INSPIRE Award Scheme at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-10, Chandigarh, today. The school children welcomed the guest with the band at the entrance. V.K.Singh lit the traditional lamp and formally inaugurated the exhibition. The Director Higher Education Ajoy Sharma, and other dignitaries were also present at the inaugural function.
Mr. Singh took a round of the exhibition and inspected the different models made by the school children. He appreciated the effort done by the school children. This exhibition was organized by State Institute of Education, Scctor-32, Chandigarh under the able guidance of the Director, Dr.Surinder S. Dahiya in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology.
As many as 57 students of various schools, who were selected under the INSPIRE Award Scheme showcased their innovative science projects/ models. A team of three eminent judges from the field of Education judged the innovative Projects or models of the students. The INSPIRE Programme is a centrally funded flagship programme of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The best five projects or models would be selected for the National Level Exhibition to be held from August 14 to August 16, 2011 at New Delhi.
The objective of INSPIRE Award Scheme is to communicate to the youth the excitements of creative pursuit of science and is to attract at an early stage and to build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science And Technology system and R and D base.
