SLSA Chandigarh organizes Special Legal Awareness Camp

Chandigarh:   The State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh (SLSA) and the Adult Education Department of Chandigarh Administration organized a Legal Awareness Camp on July12, 2011. About 150 members of public attended the Seminar.

Jagdeep Jain, Additional District Judge-cum-Member Secretary, SLSA stated that the purpose of Seminar was to spread awareness about the role and functions of SLSA. The questions and problems of  students were discussed and answered on the spot by the Law Officer

Rajeshwar Singh and Para Legal Volunteers of this authority. The importance of such Legal Awareness camps can be gauged from the case of Mrs. Bhagwati who was being abused and beaten by 3 sons for claiming her property and SLSA noted down her dispute for taking up in the Pre-litigative Lok Adalat by the Member Secretary of SLSA. The Law Officer also highlighted the scope and importance of Permanent Lok Adalat for Public Utility Services. Nareshanand addressed the audience on healthcare services and Ms. Manjit Kaur-Member Justice Justice Board highlighted the various issues on juveniles and child labour.

Mrs. Saroj Mittal, Deputy Director and Mrs. Vinay R. Sood, Assistant Director of Adult Education, Chandigarh Administration sensitized the audience about the services being provided by Adult Education Department. Smt. Tripta, Principal of School and various “Prerarks” of Adult Education, Para Legal Volunteers of SLSA attended the Seminar.
