Shimla: Renowned Film Actress Ms. Preity Zinta would be motivating world renowned personalities and entrepreneurs to visit and invest in high end Tourism promotion activities in Himachal Pradesh and consented in principle to act as Brand Ambassador for Tourism and Environment protection endeavours of the State. This was revealed by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, on receipt of the report submitted by Dr. Arun Sharma, Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation, who had visited Mumbai the other day under his directions to discuss various proposals of the State Government on tourism promotion and environment protection initiatives and future plans with Ms. Preity Zinta as also to obtain her consent to lend her support by way of acting as Brand Ambassador for such activities the world over on behalf of the State of Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh had been blessed with immense natural wealth which could be harnessed for tourism promotion activities. He said that the infrastructure built so far had yet to match the requirements of the high end tourists. He said that bids had been invited from renowned international chains of hoteliers to invest in five and seven star tourist resorts in the State to cater to the needs of the high end tourists. He said that the State Government had already approved heli-taxi service to such tourists to take them to far and distant virgin locations to have close encounter with the nature. He said that although Himachal Pradesh was universally renowned tourist destination and some of its towns like Shimla, Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie etc. were well known to the international tourists where quality tourism infrastructure was required to be created. He said that additionally there were several other virgin locations in different parts of the State where high end tourists having less holidaying time at their disposal would be flown by heli-taxi service to optimumly utilize the time. He said that the State had created a vast network of helipads all over the State where successful landing of the helicopters had been carried several times and would add to the infrastructural facilities to the high end tourists.
Prof. Dhumal said that with the visits by world renowned personalities and investors in tourism and environment sectors, the State would gain publicity at the international level. He said that with Ms. Zinta lending her cooperative hand to strengthen the tourism sector, the State was bound to benefit immensely wherein employment and self-employment avenues would be generated to the unemployed educated youth under various related activities. He said that tourism activities in the state were poised to gain renewed momentum with the involvement of such renowned Brand Ambassador and Himachal Pradesh would be gaining popularity in more countries of the world.
Dr. Arun Sharma, Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation, detailed the discussions held with Ms. Preity Zinta in Mumbai and the consent she gave in principle to act as Brand Ambassador for Tourism Promotion and Environment Protection of the State. He said that since Ms. Zinta had agreed to pursue renowned personalities to visit Himachal Pradesh which would give boost to tourism promotion activities in the State besides attracting the attention of the world towards the tourism potential available in the State. He also presented Ms. Preity Zinta a copy of the coffee table book brought out by the department ‘Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai’ depicting stories connected with every heritage building in Shimla, which she appreciated. He said that since Ms. Zinta was well conversant with the State’s tourism potential and was most appropriate personality to act as Brand Ambassador for the state.
