Nahan: On Wednesday the district would get first tourist reception Centre (TRC), despite the huge potential for the tourism industry the district always remained ignored in the development. The situation could be gauged that the district is getting first tourist reception centre now.  Chief Minister Himahal Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal would inaugurate TRC on Wednesday at Dosarka about 4 kilometers away from her on Chandiagrh-Dehradun highway  Sources said that the restaurant would not be started in this TRC so one floor of this building would remain vacant. For inauguration department of tourism has called staff from other places. As per as the information the building of the TRC was completed one and half years back but it was waiting for the inauguration. Surprisingly this backward district has a remarkable potential for wooing the tourists but unfortunately no efforts were made to explore the potential. It is learnt that Suketi Fossil Park had a small information centre but it was closed 9-10 years back.

As per as the information Paonta sahib valley has obtained a budget of 6 crores for the development of tourism in the area, sources said that this budget was obtained by default as it was falling in the Circuit Panchkula-Ambala-Paonta sahib, home  constituency of Ms Shaileja, Minister for tourism in the UPA government. It is learnt that the trackers hut in Haripurdhar was also completed since a long time but it was yet to be functional for the tourists. The residents of the district are expecting that Chief Minister during his two days tour in the district would announce the projects for the development of the tourism industry. Around two years back Chief Minister Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal had announced to explore the potential of Para gliding in the district after which a site in Shearjagas in Rajgarh sub division  for the purpose was notified by the department of tourism but  the activities were yet to start at notified site. Unfortunately the Suketi fossil park near Kala amb industrial area is also in pitiable condition. Though Geological survey of India (GSI) had started a construction of museum but due to the inadequate funds the work is yet to be completed. Experts says this backward district have a huge potential of tourism as places like Renuka ji,Haripurdhar,Nohra,Rajgarh and Churdhar peak etc falls in the district despite this the tourism industry has not been developed in the district. The district have also rich potential for religious tourism .When contacted, officiating district tourism development officer Kamal chand confirmed that Do sarka (Nahan) TRC would be first in the district but added that second TRC at Suketi is also likely to inaugurate soon. He also confirmed that the department had received a budget of 6 crorers from centre government for developing tourism activities in Paonta valley.
