Tourism to be given big boost in Himachal: Dhumal
Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister Himachal said that all the places of tourist interests should be highlighted in the right perspective so as to attract a large number of tourists to the State. He was presiding over 123rd Meeting of the Board of Directors of H.P. Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) here today.
Prof. Dhumal said that tourism industry can generate income and employment to the local people. He said that State had been according top priority to upgrade the tourism infrastructure to facilitate the tourists of all kins including high spending.
Prof. Dhumal said that employees had been the backbone of the chain of Hotels of the Corporation and the State Government had also been considerate towards their genuine demands. He said that skills of employees of Coropration should be upgraded from time to time to deliver better servces. He said that special package should be introduced to attract different categories of tourists so that more people could know about Himachal and its natural grandeurs to carry forward mouth publicity.
Chief Minister stressed for conduction of tours for various places including apple orchards, flower fields and projects.
Chief Minister also stressed that the employees of Hotel should be hospitable, courteous to the tourists so that they take back good feeling.
The Board of Directors of the H.P. Tourism Development Corporation approved to constitute a committee to look after the appeals so that speedy relief could be delivered to the appellant. Principal Secretary Tourism, Managing Director, HPTDC, Director, Tourism Department will be the official members and Dr. S.P. Bansal will be the non-official member of the committee.
It was told in the meeting that the HPTDC will tie up with the common wealth games authorities to attract visitors to Himachal during next year by offering special packages to the sports lovers.
