40th IFFI Goa to open with Chinese Film ‘Wheat’
New Delhi: International Film Festival of India commences tomorrow at Panaji, Goa with the screening of the Chinese historical drama “Wheat” (MAI TIAN) directed by He Ping. The film set in 260 B.C, when China was mired in a long and bloody war between the Qin and the Zhao that could not be settled for decades. A Chinese warlord’s wife led the town’s women to guard the city while all the men went away for war. When two soldiers returned claiming to be natives, the true meaning of heroism was put to test.
He Ping was born in Shanghai, China. His earlier films include Kawashima Yoshiko (1989), Red Firecracker, Green Firecracker (1994), The Swordsmen in Double Flag Town (1991), Sun Valley (1995) and Warriors of Heaven & Earth (2004). Wheat (2009) is his most recent film.
The Screenplay of the film has also been done by He Ping. Music in the film has been given by Liu Xing. Zhao Xiaoshi has done Cinematography while Wang Changrui has done the Sound. Fan Binbing, Huang Jue, Du Jiayi are the main cast of the film edited by Pink H.
