Himachal to launch Special Campaigns on AIDS and Leprosy
Shimla: Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister Himachal, said that special campaigns would be launched in the State to make people aware about AIDS and Leprosy.
While presiding over a review meeting of Health Department here today, Dr. Bindal said that a campaign on AIDS will be organized between 1 to 25 December whereas a special drive on eradication of leprosy will be launched during the month of January next year.
He said that the State Government was committed to make Health Department vibrant and pulsating and effective steps were being initiated to strengthen its infrastructure. He said the present government had constituted Rogi Kalyan Samitis (RKS) in 568 health institutions of the State in which participation of representatives of public and social organizations and media persons had been ensured. The RKS, which were lying dormant during the regime of Congress government, had been made active by imparting professional training.
Health Minister also held video conferencing with the Health authorities of the ten districts.
A sum of Rs. 15.37 crore had been earmarked for the current fiscal year for maintenance and other works of Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers and Civil Hospitals in the State. It was for the first time that hospitals were being provided open financial aid to meet their day to day requirements, said the Minister.
