Himachal Power Corporation to purchase land for Renuka dam affected population
Nahan: Himachal Pardesh Power Corporation has finally decided to purchase 92 bighas private land near Dhaulakuan in Paonta Sahib block for the affected population of much hyped 40 MW Renuka dam for their rehabilitation.
Sources said that recently board of director has recently approved the deal after the recommendation of high powered negotiation committee. As per as the information private land owners has given the consent to sell the land at the cost of 6.4 lakhs per bigha. As per as the information power corporation would develop model colony for the affected people in 32 bighas however 60 bighas land would be allotted to the affected people in which priority would be given to landless and homeless affected people of the Renuka dam. The land was not identified well in time for the affected person, which was increasing the resentment among the people. Even Power Corporation took two years to get this land for the affected people.
Sources said that Power Corporation would spend at least 5-6 crores for purchasing the land in tokyon village (Dhalkuan) for the affected people of the dam, but additional budget would be allotted for developing the houses in 32 bighas with modern facilities. Renuka dam sangarsh samiti however reacting on this development said that it would be a very less land to settle down the affected people. Sources also said that the power corporation has also identified more private land for the purpose but the final selection depends upon the approval of the affected people. Sources added that proposal of the purchase of private land could be forwarded after the approval of the affected people. It is worthwhile to mention here that power corporation had also enhanced the price of the land of affected people.
The provision of drinking water to national capital has made the construction of this dam much hyped. According to the current record of the power corporation 100-125 families would become land and homeless with the construction of this dam. However about 2000 people would be affected in different angles. When contacted, Managing director Sh Tarun Kapoor of the power corporation said that recently approval for purchasing the private land was given by the board of directors. He also said that power corporation was serious on the issue of rehabilitation of the affected people.
As per as the information state power corporation has agreed to take an amount of 100 crores from the neighboring state Haryana for the construction of the Renuka ji dam. Sources said that about six months back state power corporation had refused to take the amount but after the consent of the union government the power corporation has ready to take the amount. Haryana wanted to give the amount against the claim in the share of Giri river water.
