Campaign launched to create awareness for prevention of violence against women
New Delhi: Ministry of Women and Child Development today launched a campaign to create awareness for prevention of violence against women. On the occasion, a human chain was formed at India Gate Lawns by the women representing various walks of life.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Lt. Governor of Delhi, Tejinder Khanna said that women should get their due place in society. Strength of woman has been a source of inspiration from ages, we have to respect that and give all encouragement to the women.
Highlighting the role of women in the development of the nation, Smt Krishna Tirath, Minister of Women and Child Development said that everyone has to make effort to prevent violence against women in every form. She said that the Ministry is launching a nation-wide campaign to create awareness about the issue.
Earlier in the day, the Minister also launched a campaign on prevention of violence against Dalit women at Harijan Colony in New Delhi and she also participated at community lunch with Dalits at Harijan Sevak Sangh in New Delhi.
