Himachal to Explore in Tourism and Micro Hydel Projects

kishanShimla: Mr. Kishan Kapoor, Industries Minister Himachal Pradesh has asked the Himachal Pradesh Finance and Development Corporation to explore the possibilities of financing the tourism and micro hydel power projects in order to make the Corporation financially viable and self reliant. He was presiding over the meetings of H.P. Finance and Development Corporation and Himachal Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board here today.
Kapoor directed the officers of the Corporation to prepare a master plan in this regard and said that officers should expedite the same. He said that Finance Corporation has set a target of Rs. 50 crore under loan scheme so that small and cottage industries could be promoted in the State. He also appreciated the Finance Corporation for making the regular payments of loans taken from SIDBI and said that Rs. 10 crore has been released to the Corporation during this year by the SIDBI. He said that to attract investors Corporation could opt for lowering the loan interest rates. He directed the officers to expedite the recovery of the loans given by the Corporation.
Industries Minister said that Corporation has decided to reward the officials doing commendable work in ‘Non Performing Assets Recovery’ which would inspire the other officials. He also stressed for one time settlement of ‘Non Performing Assets Recovery’.
While reviewing the activities of H.P. Khadi and Village Industries Board, he stressed the need to diversify the product range being sold through the sale outlets of the Board. He said that sale targets of the Board of current fiscal had been enhanced to Rs. 330 lakh from Rs. 110 lakh. He called upon the board officials to make special efforts to promote sales of the products. He said that local Hoteliers and Organizations should be tapped at Shimla, Kullu, Manali and Kangra for this purpose.
