Aligarh Muslim University organizing Refresher Course in Environmental Studies

Aligarh: The UGC Academic Staff College, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is organizing a Subject Refresher Course in Environmental Studies on the theme of Sustainable Development and Climate Change. The three-weeks course will focus broadly on synergies and trade off between sustainable development and climate change for analytical capacity building at local, regional and global decision making.

Prof. A.R. Kidwai, Director, Academic Staff College implored for pursuing Green House Gas (GHG) friendly and fuel substitution policies.

Prof. Iqbal Ali Khan, Dean, Faculty of Law suggested for devising mechanism for austerity, alternative and forestation for combating challenges of climate change.

Prof. Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University Delhi highlighted the agenda of humanity, harmony and environment and given clarion call for humanistic Laws than myopic profit making and matricidal policies.

Prof. Philipp Cullet, Director, International Environmental Law’ Research Centre Geneva called for innovating second tier level principles of sustainability and climate change.

Dr. Md. Zafar Mahfooz Nomani, Course Coordinator said that climate change is threatening our ecosystem, food security and biodiversity. The climate change challenges are insurmountable and there is a need to implement National Action Plan on Climate Change.

More than 70 participants from different parts of country are taking the Course. The Director, ASC strongly feels that the course will sensitize the participants of clean development mechanism (CDM) of climate change to reduce carbon emission in India.
