may-16bNahan: Finally ruling BJP has succeeded in breaking the traditional vote bank of the congress in 15th Parliament polls by getting a respectable lead in all five assembly constituencies of the district. Congress faced a setback as BJP secured the respectable lead of 20233 in five assembly constituencies. It is worthwhile to mention here that after the Independence the congress was enjoying the strong hold in the district. In 2007 assembly poll congress was succeeded in getting four constituencies out of total five constituencies. Congress had taken a lead of 31115 votes against the BJP candidate in 2004 parliament poll but in this poll ruling BJP not only overcome this lead but also succeeded in getting the lead of 20233 votes to decide the fate of BJP candidate Virender Kashyap. Although anti congress candidates had won four assembly seats in 1900 election but this is the first time when mandate has been given against congress completely in the district. According to the political observers BJP was also in the position to win more assembly seats in December 2007 assembly polls but party rift affected the performance of assembly polls and BJP was succeeded only in Paonta sahib constituency. Interesting to note here that BJP created a history in the district in this poll but no may-16ccelebration was reported from anywhere only BJP workers at Nahan hold a small procession of victory. The counting begun this morning and initial trend of counting shown that district would create a history by breaking the traditional vote bank. Out of total 37 round of counting of five constituencies BJP secured the lead in 31 rounds and congress was squeezed to 6 round lead in the district.
