MCM DAV bids a warm farewell to its outgoing students
Chandigarh: In a warm and colourful event, MCM DAV College today held the Annual Farewell Party for its outgoing students. Girls adorned in beautiful traditional Indian dresses were received by their juniors and their teachers in a warm send-off party. Amidst a number of cultural events and a panorama of music and colour, the college wished its outgoing batch success and contentment for their future.. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Kamlesh, the Mayor of the city. She addressed the students and encouraged them to take on the trials and tribulations of life with the same zeal and enthusiasm that they exhibit in their youth. Highlighting the significance of college education in the life to come, Ms. Kamlesh urged the students to be self-reliant and maintain a balance between success and values handed down to us by our culture and society. She also appreciated the immense talent of the students and the college’s efforts towards curbing the menace of female foeticide.
The Principal of the college, Dr. (Mrs.) Puneet Bedi, addressed the students and warmly assured them, that the doors of MCM DAV College would always be open for them for any kind of help they might require in their lives to come. The Principal wished them a fruitful life and guided them to fulfill their duties responsibly in the outside world. The students were reminded about their duties as women by the Principal as she directed them to work against female foeticide and dowry, and guided them to serve the senior citizens with their heart and soul. By serving these three causes, one can ensure the safeguard of the past, the present and the future generations. Dr. Bedi guided the girls to become model citizens of the world and avoid the competition of man and woman in life.. She guided the students to be good human beings imbibing what is good in both men and women in a complimentary whole.
The Farewell Party included a series of preliminary rounds leading up to the
crowning of Miss MCM. The students displayed their grace and wit in a series of rounds. In the Post Graduate category, Saayna was crowned Miss MCM, and Aditi bagged the title of Miss Personality. In the Under graduate category, Himani Walia was crowned Miss MCM 2008-2009, with Isha and Arundeep as the first and second Runner-Up respectively. Henna won the title of Miss Charming and Zoya was adjudged as Miss Beautiful Smile.
