International Women’s’ Day celebrated
New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development here today organised a function to celebrate International Women’s’ Day. A large number of women activists, self-help groups of women, representatives of UN bodies and Women from various walks of life participated in the function.
Inaugurating the celebrations, the Secretary of the Ministry, Anil Gupta said that women have made outstanding achievements in all walks of life and set new examples. But still a large section of women have to get their due share in resources, programmes and schemes, we have to support their efforts and struggle for empowerment, he said. On the occasion, representatives of the various UN bodies also asserted for more opportunities for the women of deprived class. Report on the implementation of the ‘Protection from Domestic Violence Act’ and a summary report on ‘Gender Human Development Indices and Gender Empowerment Measures’ were also released during the function.
