Shimla: A spokesman of the State Government said here today that 50 percent concession has been announced to the SC students those belong to BPL families and learning computer education in Government schools in the State.
The Spokesman said that on the birthday of Guru Ravi Dass Ji, the State Government has decided to provide 50 percent concession to the students from 1st April, 2009 in computer education. He said that the students would have to pay only 50 percent charges and the 50 percent would be paid by the government itself. He said that about 3299 students of SC category belong to BPL families would be benefited by this decision and under this, about Rs. 30 lac would be spent by the government per annum. He said that the State Government was providing computer education in all the Government Senior Secondary schools from 9th to 10+2 level. He said that presently 42477 students were getting computer education in Government schools, out of which 13106 students belong to SC category and 3299 students belong to BPL families.
The Spokesman said that the purpose of providing 50 percent concession to the students, of BPL category of SC was to motivate the students for computer education. He said that Rs. 15.79 lac were provided to Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribe under ‘Swavlamban Yojna’ with a view to made them economically self reliant.
