Dharmshala: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister today launched the voluntary CM Relief Scheme by State D.C. Office employees by receiving affidavits from the Presidents of all the District DC Office Employees Association on the inaugural ceremony of the 4th State level D.C. Office Employees Sports Meeting organised at Kangra.
Chief Minister appreciated the exemplary beginning made by the State employees in the social welfare sector and hoped that the same spirit would be replicated in their day to day functioning and deliver every citizen best of the services by implementing policies and programmes of the State Government in right earnest. He said that no endeavour of the State Government would achieve success without active cooperation of its employees. He said that State was proud to have committed and hard working employees which had brought Sate pride at the national and international level in different fields.
Prof. Dhumal underlined the need for regular sports meeting of the employees to keep themselves mentally and physically fit. He said that employees had been rendering yeoman service towards implementation of policies and programmes of the Government at the grass-roots level. He said that they were face of the Government who represent the Government in right perspective. He said that image of the State Government solely depend upon how the employees deliver goods and services to common man. He said that poorest of poor were the focal point of the policies and programmes of the State Government and it was duty of every employee to deliver best of the services to such common men so that all their genuine grievances were resolved at the lowest level. He said that the employees were backbone of the State Government and its success depended upon successful implementation of the policies and programmes of the Government.
Chief Minister said that the State Government had appealed its public not to waste money over flowers; decorations and presenting him gifts instead donate the same towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund so that the same was disbursed to poor and deserving in carrying expensive medical treatment who otherwise were unable to bear the expenses. He said that he was indebted towards its employees, public in general, corporate houses and other organizations who rose to the call and came forward with generous donation towards the fund which was spent over payment of expensive medical treatments, to give many ailing people life to live and enjoy. He said that every penny thus collected was of immense value to the Government and the beneficiary who would be benefited under the fund disbursement provisions.
He reiterated his appeal to every affording section of the society to donate liberally towards Chief Minister Relief Fund and be partner in providing people relief.
Prof. Dhumal also appealed to the people to contribute liberally towards Environment Fund created to protect the environment of the State, as a compensatory measure to the damage, human activities were causing towards environment. He said that the State Government had initiated many steps towards mass awareness amongst people in general about the steps being initiated to protect environment. He said that Himachal being hilly and environmentally sensitive State was poised to emerge as a role model for the rest of the country in environment protection endeavours and show the path to the rest of the society how to protect the environment and prolong their healthy and wealthy life. He said that the State was optimistic about the positive outcome in the endeavours made by State on environment protection activities.
Chief Minister honoured the renowned employee athlete Ms Pushpa Thakur as a mark of respect towards the contribution she made while being in active service.
Chief Minister also released the souvenir brought out by the organisers to mark celebrations of the sports meet.
Chief Minister unfurled the Sports flag and took salute from the participating sports contingents from all the districts of the State to mark the inaugural ceremony of the sports meet. He also witnessed the inaugural match of the State DC Office Employees Sports Meet. He formally announced opening of the games and was introduced to the participating sports contingents of the tournament.
Joginder Verma, President, State DC office Employees Association, H.P. welcomed the Chief Minister and reiterated the resolve to implement policies and programmes of the State Government in letter and spirit. He said that the employees members have decided to regularly contribute towards CM Relief Fund.
