Himachal implements Poly house project

Shimla: Rs. 352.58 crore Pandit Deen Dayal Kisan Samridhi Yojna Poly House project had been started for implementation from January 1, 2009 in the State with a view to give boost to diversified farming activities and strengthening the economy of about 30,000 farmers in the State and social security pension enhanced to Rs. 330 from 1st January, 2009 to benefit about 2.50 lakh pensioners. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister while addressing a public meeting at Kandaghat in district Solan after he laid the foundation stone of the Civil Hospital building estimated to cost Rs. 2.44 crore today.
Chief Minister said that the ambitious project would be providing farmers 80 per cent subsidy on the project cost and 28,080 poly houses had been targetted to be constructed under the ambitious programme. He said that water efficient drip handpumps, mini and micro irrigation projects had also been included under the project so that best use of the available natural resources was obtained. He said that on implementation of the project the agriculture sector would get revolutionised and farmers would be getting employment and self-employment avenues at their door-steps.
Prof. Dhumal said that the State Government had enhanced the SC Special Component Plan from 11 per cent during 2007-08 to 25 per cent during current financial year registering an increase of over 157 per cent allotment from Rs. 231 crore in 2007-08 to Rs. 594 crore during 2008-09. He said that the enhanced budgetary provisions would help in concentrated development of the SC concentrated villages in the State so that all such villages were brought at par with rest of the developed communities. He said that speedy upliftment of the weaker sections was on the priority agenda of the State Government.
Chief Minister said that during his previous regime the State Government had introduced various scholarships valued at over 8.5 crores annually and included 2000 students belonging to SC category while more were benefited under scholarships to ST, OBC and General category student which had helped all such deserving students with educational facilities. He said that the students of vulnerable sections were benefited with higher educational facilities due to the scholarship schemes.
Prof. Dhumal said that Solan had been most progressive district in farming. He said that Rs. 55.42 crore were being spent under road construction in the district during current financial year. He said that Rs. 5 crore Tourism Solan Destination would be implemented in the district during current financial year to give boost to tourism promotion activities. He assured people that the district would witness speedy development in coming years.
He added that Rs. 6.8 crore were being spent over construction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan in every assembly segment of the State.
