HS inaugurates Blood Donation Camp

Chandigarh: UT Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas today inaugurated a Blood Donation Camp at Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36. The camp was being organized by Lions Club Chandigarh with support of the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion Council, UT. On the occasion Mr. Niwas said that this is an appreciable effort. He further hailed the participation of women, about 80 percent, in the camp. He averred that human beings are created for helping others which generates a feeling of inner satisfaction of doing something good and noble for the society.

During his address he also admitted the fact of the lowest sex ratio in this part, besides the fact that most educated and economically sound population resides in this part. Mr. Niwas motivated and inspired the girls to change the set thinking of people, who regard them as an economic liability, through getting good education and taking good position in the society and prove to be an economic asset and a viable economy unit.

Mr. Niwas also interacted with the donors and encouraged them to continue this spree as it is for a noble cause. Mr. Niwas also released a booklet titled “Meri Patrika” on the occasion.

About one hundred volunteers donated blood in the camp. The students of the college, faculty members and volunteers took part in the camp. Chairperson Dev Samaj College Kumari Styawati, Director Dev Samaj, Ms. Sashi Jain, Principal Jyoti Khanna and other distinguished guests were present during the camp.
