Aligarh Muslim University wins in the final North Zone Intervarsity Cricket Tournament
Syed Amir reports from Aligarh: Host Aligarh Muslim University won the final of North Zone Intervarsity Cricket Tournament being played here on Sunday. AMU team was declared winner of the tournament on the basis of its lead of 36 runs over the team of Delhi University in first inning.
Aligarh Muslim University team scored a total of 260 runs in 85 overs in second inning and put a score of 296 runs before Delhi University for victory. Mohammad Fazil scored 102, Danish Ahmad 45. Sparsh Jain of Delhi University bowled out 8 wickets giving 65 runs. Lokesh Sharma took two wickets.
In reply Delhi University could score 127 runs in 25 overs at the loss of 7 wickets at the end of match. Rahul Yadav scored 47 and Chadrapal Saini 14 runs. Meraj Ahmad and Imtiyaz Ahmad took 3 wickets each giving 35 and 46 runs respectively.
The Score:
1st Inning: AMU scored 190 runs in 83.5 overs. Delhi University scored 154 runs in 25.4 overs.
2nd Inning: AMU scored 260 runs in 85 overs (Mohd. Fazil 102, Danish Ahmad 45, Sparsh Jain 8/65) beat Delhi University 127 for seven in 25 overs (Rahul Yadav 47, Meraj Ahmad 3/35, Imtiyaz Ahmad 3/46).
Mr. Rajiv Shukla, BCCI Vice President and the Chief Guest of function gave away prizes to the winner and runner teams. Man of the Match award was given to Asif Intizar, Best Batsman Mohammad Fazil, Best Bowler Mohammad Mansoor, Best All Rounder Imtiyaz Ahmad of AMU while the Best Fielder and Best Wicket Keeper prizes were given to Puneet Mehra and Rahul Yadav of Delhi University respectively.
