Interests of Kasauli villagers to be protected: Dhumal

Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, said that every possible step would be initiated to protect the interests of the villagers included in the Greater Kasauli Development Plan. He was addressing a deputation of Gram Panchayat Pradhans and other prominent leaders of Kasauli Assembly Constituency which called on him under the leadership of Dr. Rajeev Saijal, local MLA, here today and was accompanied by Raj Kumar Single, Director, BOD HIMUDA, Daulat Thakur, Councilor, Parwanoo Municipal Council, Tirth Ram Thakur, Member, State BJP Executive Committee, Kapur Singh Verma, General Secretary, Kasauli BJP, Duni Chand Dhiman, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Jabli, Smt. Mamta Thakur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Jangeshu, Paras Ram Thakur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Jagjit Nagar, Shri Puran Chand Gupta, Pradhan, Gram Pancyayat, Dadvi, Parmanand Thakur, former Pradhan and Hira Singh etc. to apprise him of the problems people of Kasauli area were facing due to the implementation of the Greater Kasauli Development Plan envisaged by the previous government .
Chief Minister said that Kasauli was historically and strategically an important town whose heritage importance was required to be protected by taking necessary steps to check unplanned expansion of the town as also the construction activities which could jeopardize the beauty of the place. He said that the state government would consider the request of the villagers on merit and take necessary action to deliver them relief. He said that the state government would explore possibilities of keeping the adjoining gram panchayats out of the purview of the Town and Country Planning provisions invoked under Greater Kasauli Development Plan keeping in view the genuine grievances arisen due to its implementation in the area.
Dr. Rajeev Saijal, MLA, apprised the Chief Minister that the Town and Country Planning conditions had been made equally applicable to the adjoining gram panchayats putting them to various hardships and inconveniences. He urged the Chief Minister to relax the norms for the villages so that the villagers could carry on with their various construction and repairs etc. He blamed the preceding government for invoking the Act in contravention to the wishes of the villagers and paying no heed towards their genuine grievances. He requested the Chief Minister to relax the TCP provisions for the villagers of Kasauli.
