Monika Sharma reports: 332 Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) centres will be set up in different clusters of gram panchayats during current financial year. The government will spend 12.62 lacs for the welfare of youths and sports activities said K R Bharti, Director Youth Services and Sports.
He was addressing the youths of the State at State level Youth Festival in Geeta Bhawan Jawalamukhi. . He inaugurated the 25th State level Youth Festival on Tuesday. About 300 participants are here to attend the function.
Bharti said that the Union Government had agreed to relax the norm with the intervention of State Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal , of 4,600 population for setting up of PYKKA and got 332 such centres approved for the state. He said that out of 332 Centres 324 would be established as Village Panchayat PYKKA and 8 block Panchayat PYKKA centres during current financial year. He said that an amount of over Rs. 4 crore would be spent over creation of such Centres all over the state during current financial year and availing the benefit of special category state the Central grants would be on the ratio of 90:10 basis.
Bharti said that Himachal Pradesh was fast emerging a favorite destination for organization of various sports competitions. He said that one of world’s best cricket stadium had come up and was nearing completion in Dharamshala to host international cricket matches and more cricket stadiums were also being developed in all the district headquarters in a phased manner.
He said that the state had been hosting the International Para-Gliding competitions at Billing in district Kanga for the past few years where the number of participants was increasing with every passing year. He said that the state had many virgin skii slopes to facilitate organization of Winter Olympics which too were being developed to match the international standards.
He said that quality infrastructure was being created at all major district headquarters to facilitate organization of at least national level sports events.
