Shalender Kalra reports: The activists of the student front ABVP today burnt the effigy of the superintendent of police J.P.Singh and blockade the traffic for more than one hour at Delhi gate. The activists accused that police wanted to stop the activists to follow the national call of the front against the infiltration of Bangladesh people in the country. It is worthwhile to mention here that ABVP had given the national call to close the colleges in protest of the Bangladesh infiltration. The workers of the ABVP also burnt the effigy of the college principal with the same allegations which allegations, which were leveled against the SP sirmaur.
They alleged that police also charged lathis (stick) on the front activists inside the college campus to stop them following the national call of the front. The activists of the ABVP also shouted slogan against the SP J.P.Singh and also alleged that SP was supporting the congress supported student front NSUI because he was appointed as SP in Sirmaur during the regime of the congress government. The workers were demanding the SP to come on the spot but instead of SP, ASP Rani Bindu Sachdeva reached on the spot around 1:30PM.
Interestingly about one dozen ABVP workers seems to be heavy on the district police during the agitation as no police men dared to touch the activists. Nahan college SCA president Rajesh Kumar Said that police persons beaten the organizing secretary of the ABVP in SCA room located in the college campus without any reason. He also alleged that police was working on the instance of congress associated student front NSUI.The ABVP workers also accused college administration for supporting NSUI and SFI during the students front affair in the college campus. Later Local Tehsildar K.S. Lalta reached on the spot to restore the traffic at Delhi gate but intervention of the additional superintendent of police Rani bindu sachdeva the traffic was restored. As per as the further information the activists also agreed to hold a dialogue on the issue with additional superintendent of police. ABVP workers also alleged that police administration had also tried to mild the case, when the SFI workers attacked the SCA president of the college Rajesh Kumar last month. They also alleged that it all happened on the instance of SP Sirmaur. Refuting the allegations of the ABVP workers SP J.P. Singh said that there was a conflict between the student fronts in the college campus over the closure of college and ABVP workers put lock on the college gate. He further said that police only tried to resolve the matter and there was no lathi charge on ABVP workers. He added that police went to college on the intimation of the college administration. He strongly refuted any partiality in resolving the cases of student fronts. SP said that it was the duty of the police to maintain the law and order situation and again strongly said that it was a conspiracy to defame his clear image. On the other SFI in a statement strongly condemned the move of the ABVP activists.
