Dhumal dedicates Rs. 11.25 crore developmental projects to people of Lahaul valley
Shimla: Rs. 11.25 crore worth of developmental projects were dedicated to the people of Lahaul valley in a single day and Rs. 5.22 crore to be spent over Yangla bridge. Financial benefits worth Rs. 1,000 crore had been provided to the state employees in ten months while 12000 contract and daily wage employees would be regularized.
This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister while addressing a public meeting at the district headquarters Keylong today after he laid the foundation stone of Gwazang bridge estimated to cost Rs. 3 crore and Zila Parishad Bhawan at Keylong estimated to cost Rs. 4 crore.
Chief Minister said that development was on the top agenda of the State Government, uniform and balanced development of the entire State was being ensured by rising above all political considerations. He said that NABARD funded 575 poly houses would be provided to Lahaul where the beneficiaries had to contribute only 20 per cent while 80 per cent would be made available by the Government. He said that the State Government had succeeded in getting Rs. 155 crore sanctioned from NABARD for construction of poly houses and drip irrigation schemes. He appealed to the people to avail of the scheme and construct poly houses to cultivate cash crops and diversify farming activities.
Prof. Dhumal said that valley had the potential to cultivate quality hops and the State Government was also committed to protect the interests of hops growers. He said that the State Government had waived off the loan and set up a palatalization plant for processing the hops produce.
Prof. Dhumal said that the State Government was providing subsidy on the essential commodities being provided to the ration card holders in the State through fair price shops. He said that all the retail outlets had been issued adequate essential commodities and there would not be any shortage of essential commodities to the consumers.
Chief Minister said that the State Government was committed to connect the State geographically and emotionally so that the entire State was well inter-connected. He said that wherever necessary, the State Government would be considering construction of tunnels for all weather connectivity. He said that it would help in remaining connected throughout the year. He said that the tourism potential in Lahaul valley would also get exploited since more people would be visiting valley on completion of Rohtang tunnel.
Prof. Dhumal said that welfare of the agriculturists was on the top agenda of the Government. He said that Rs. 35 crore worth of financial benefits were provided to the farmers by waiving off the stamp duty upto Rs. 10 lakh. He said that State Government had also enhanced the premium share from 10 per cent to 50 per cent to facilitate the farmer under crop insurance scheme.
