SAIL approves steel processing unit in Sirmour

Nahan: The board of steel authority of India limited (SAIL) has given approval for installation of steel processing unit (SPU) at Nahan in Himachal Pardesh. In a latest communication to former MLA and Loak Janshakti party national secretary Sada Nand chauhan the steel ministry has informed that board in its meeting on Tuesday has approved two plants in the country i.e. Nahan in Himachal and Junjhunu in Rajasthan.

The steel ministry has also clarify that these plants would be set up in addition to nine existing plants in India.

Ex MLA Sada Nand Chauhan said that SAIL was setting up SPUs in the states where it did not have steel plant and where steel consumptions was low as compare to the national average. He said that with this initiative SAIL was striving to make steel available to consumers in the interior states of the country and thus directly serve a large number consumers.

SAIL had also urged the director of industries to provide land and power for establishing steel plant in Nahan on 22nd September. Actually SAIL had applied the project in single window clearance meeting on 22nd February this year on which department had advised the ministry to set up the plant in Kangra district due to the non availability of power in the location soughed by the ministry. It is worthwhile to mention here that union Minster Ram villas paswan had announced the plant in Nahan during his visit about one and half year back on which previous congress government had denied that there was no proposal to plant in Nahan in the record of the state government. The steel plant is hanging in the air since past one and half year. But ministry has again clarified that there was no confusion in the location of the plant.
