Dhumal flags off Raid De Himalayas Car Rally
Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, today flagged off the Raid de Himalayas Car Rally from the Peterhoff, here today.
Addressing the participants before flagging off ceremony, Chief Minister, wished the participants best of luck and memorable experience during the car rally as they would be passing through the most picturesque areas of the state and enjoy the clean and serene climate of Himachal Pradesh. He said that Himachal Pradesh was fast emerging a favourite destination for adventure sports and the state government was creating necessary infrastructure to cater to the needs of promoting the adventure tourism in a big way. He said that the number of car, motorcycle and cycle rallies etc. was increasing with every passing day and Himachal Pradesh was figuring prominently on the world adventure tourism promotion map. He said that the Himalayan Car Rally had emerged one of the prominent rally in the world of motor sports as more participants from all over the world were coming forward to participate in the same.
Prof. Dhumal emphasized the need to attract more participants from different countries of the world to participate in the event so that it could go global in all respects. He said that although the number of foreign tourists visiting the state was increasing at a rapid pace and the proportionate participation was required to be ensured in the different rallies. He said that the state qualifies in all respects to host such rallies of international level and the state government would be extending all possible help to the organizers to make such events successful.
Atul Handa, General Secretary, presented a draft of Rs. 1.00 lakh to the Chief Minister as contribution towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Vijay Parmar, President, Himalayan Motor Sports Association, welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed the itinerary of the Rally.
R.R.Koundal, MLA, V.C.Pharka, Principal Secretary (AR), Smt. Manisha Nanda, Secretary Tourism, Dr. Arun Sharma, Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Manjit Bhalla, President, Raid de Himalayas Car Rally and other prominent people of the town were present on the occasion.
