Babita Sumra fights for steel plant in Nahan area
S. R. PUNDIR writes: Babita Sumra, State General Secretary of Lok Jan Shakti Party [LJSP] Himachal Pradesh in a statement released to press here today has criticized the state government for not granting permission for the establishment of Steel Plant in Nahan constituency. Union ministry of steel had decided to establish this plan near Nahan.
She alleged that BJP government by refusing permission for the establishment of this plant in Nahan area has once again proved that they were totally anti Sirmour and anti development. Quoting a new item which says that government was ready to give permission for the establishment of proposed plant in Kangra district in place of Nahan, the ruling BJP has proved that the party was perusing agenda of regionalism in the state. People here were totally frustrated with the attitude of the government which has done noting for Nahan constituency after assuming power.
Ms Sumra said that during the tenure of Mr Sadanand Chauhan as MLA approval for installation of steel plant near Nahan was one of the major development works done by him. With the efforts of Mr Chauhan, the steel plant was gifted by the LJSP National President and union minister for steel Mr Ram Vilas Paswan to the people of Sirmour and Nahan in particular.
She said that during his public rally in Nahan Chowgan Mr Paswan had announced that union government had sanctioned two steel plants to be established one near Nahan and another in Jammu. At that time the ruling Congress had created several hurdles in establishment of the proposed plant and refused to give land for the plant. However steel ministry went to purchased private land for the purpose and when plant was ready for installion, BJP government of the state has raised hackle which is unfortunate.
She warned that if government does not give permission for the establishment of proposed government steel plant near Nahan an agitation would be started soon.
