One killed, 16 injured in road accident
NAHAN: One person was killed and 16 injured, five of them seriously when a over loaded Pickup Jeep [HR 58-7129] carrying around 25 members of a marriage party [Barati] fell in to around 400 meter deep Khud this morning near Kharkoli village on Dadahu – Sangrah – Haripurdhar road about 51 K.M. from here.
Injured persons were rushed to Dadahu referral Hospital where Kali Ram, resident of Panar village was declared dead and five persons, in critical condition, which include Jaipal [Driver], Suresh, Anuj, Amar Singh and Pinku were referred to Nahan district Hospital. All the injured persons, including four children, belongs to Panar village near Dadahu in Nahan tehsil. As per latest information Hemanand, Joginder Singh, Darshan Singh, Ram Chander, Sohan Singh, Ravinder, Deep Ram, Rajinder, Rinku, Balvinder and Sania Ram were under treatment in the Dadahu Hospital.
As per eyewitnesses the accident took place around 8.30 AM in the morning. This ill fated vehicle had started its journey with the marriage party at 7.00 AM from Panar village, it reached Dadahu at 7.00 AM and just a few minutes before the accident had a halt at a restaurant at Danoi village on the Dadahu – Sangrah road. Sources said that vehicle rolled in to the Khud when its driver tried to avoid head-on collision with a vehicle coming from the opposite side at a sharp curve.
As per information received here, S.D.M. Nahan Ms M. Mohanti was the first officer to reach the spot within the few minutes of the accident, as she was on way to Bogdhar to attend the function which was to be preside over by the Health minister Mr Rajiv Bindal. She immediately called the rescue teams and supervised the rescue operation carried over by the nearby villagers and police personals. She left the spot after all the injured were rescued and sent to Dadahu referral Hospital.
District administration has immediately disbursed rupees ten thousand to the kin of deceased, five thousand each to the seriously injured and one thousand to each simply injured person this after noon at Dadahu through tehsildar Sangrah as an emergency relief.
Eyewitnesses said that rescue team had very tough time in carrying the injured person out of the deep and tough terrain Khud as there was no approach path to reach the injured person who were thrown here and their in the sloppy terrain.
Renuka Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation in to the cause which led to this accident.
