Dr. BK Modi demands Indian citizenship for the Dalai Lama
JAWALAMUKHI: The president of Maha Bodhi Society of India, B.K. Modi, has demanded Indian citizenship for the Dalai Lama.Modi said he discussed the citizenship issue with the Tibetan spiritual leader and the Dalai Lama agreed to become an Indian citizen. On the effect conferring citizenship would have on the relations between India and China, Modi said granting citizenship to the Dalai Lama would end the conflict on the Tibet issue. As soon as the Dalai Lama ceases to be the head of the government in exile, the bone of contention in the region would also end. The Tibetan government in exile cannot be a permanent feature, said Modi, he was here to attend a Seminar on Buddhism.
