C.M dedicates Giri Water Supply Scheme
Solan: The entire Solan town thronged to the venue of the dedication of the long awaited ambitious Giri-Lift Water Supply Scheme at Children Park, Solan, where Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister was driven in on open jeep, showered enroute with petals of flowers and lead by motor cycle riders and people from all walks of life today to celebrate the dedication ceremony. He formally unveiled the dedication stone after he participated in the ‘Purnahuti’ arranged by Gayatri Parivar in the presence of Kishan Kapoor, Transport Minister, Ramesh Dhawala, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health Minister and local MLA, Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Hari Narain Saingh Saini, Smt. Vinod Chandel, Dr. Rajiv Saijal, Gobind Sharma, MLAs from Solan besides other prominent people of the town.
Dedicatating the Rs. 61.79 crore Water Supply Scheme to the people of Solan town and adjoining 23 inhabitable villages with 91 other villages in the area of Solan and Kasauli assembly segment, he said that the scheme would ensure 120 litres per capita in urban and 70 liters in rural areas per day. He said that this scheme would provide drinking water to 98468 persons of Solan and adjoining areas. He said that this scheme can provide drinking water to 2,36,642 persons estimated to reach by the year 2036. He said that with the completion of the scheme a long pending demand of the area had been fulfilled.
Prof. Dhumal said that the scheme would be supplying 14.72 million litres of water daily and was capable to supply 22.08 million litres daily at the maximum as the requirement of drinking water grows in coming years. He said that in all 44 villages had been covered under the scheme where adequate water supply would be available to the consumers regularly. He said that a reliable network of 90 Kms. distribution line had been laid touching every household in the villages covered under the scheme plan.
