Chandigarh : Worldwide discussions are being made on the status of earth in 2050 due to environmental changes. The United Nations made assessment on the basis of survey and global ecosystem was well linked with human well being. Healthy ecosystems provide everything needed by the human being like food, water, and clean air to breathe and if the ecosystem services are degraded, so is the effect on human life. The worst sufferers are the poor people because due to environmental degradation, as their reliance on natural ecosystems is immediate. Consider a natural ecosystem, in which if forests are wiped the people who depend upon plants and animals will die. It is predicted that population of earth will suffer a lot till 2050 because due to environmental changes, the ecosystems are going to extinct.
Imagine that it is the year 2050. Although governments and their citizens were warned about the dangers of the greenhouse effect as early as the 1970`s, they did not take the necessary steps to prevent it from worsening. As a result, global warming and ozone depletion continued unchecked, despite research surveys and data indicated that the earth could hold more heat and warmed by a more than 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit during middle of the 21st century. This will due to our failure to control harmful emissions from burning fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal and crude oil. The consequences of rise in earths temperature further predict that levels of sea will rise which may even cause flooding of coastal areas. The whole environment will get disturbed and there will be intense forest fires, heat waves and drought like condition. If warming continues to rise earths temperature, there will be frequent forest fires, which will increase the total expenditure of the fire-fighting companies governed by the state government. Heat-related deaths will rise due to intensive heat waves. The other aspect of global warning is the total disturbance of the environment. Due to increase in temperature the sea level will rise due to melting of mountain glaciers. The increase in global temperature will disturb the natural ecosystem and will result in loss of diverse plant and animal species.
It is further expected that more than one million species are bound for extinction if global warming goes unchecked .On account of global warming, the oceans will be more acidic due to carbon dioxide emissions and as a result animal species with hard calcium carbonate shells will become vulnerable and that are equally vital for surviving of life.U.S. and Canada being the world’s richest countries are spending million of dollars to check the environmental changes linked to global waiming. Their main is to control the majors risks linked to rise of the level of seas and drought conditions. Reports indicated that a United Nation body (since 1990) has been assessing global warming and will tie up with wealthy nations far from the equator for experiencing less harmful effects. As per study, two-third of the atmosphere is buildup of carbon dioxide, which is a heat-trapping greenhouse gas, has come in equal proportions from the U.S. and other European countries as compared to other nations. Reports further indicated that these and other wealthy nations are investing in windmill-powered plants which are economic and cost-effective so as to turn seawater to drinking water, that is revival of water shortage during severe drought like conditions. Crucial meetings are being arranged by United Nations to solve the crisis due to global warming and environmental degradation. Some countries ate thinking of planting more and more trees so as to increase oxygen gas in the atmosphere and minimize the carbon dioxide level. On the hand, the planting of more trees will certainly need more forestland and this can only be achieved with financial assistance from the state governments. Environmental scientists recognized by the United Nations predict that continuos global warming has endangered thousands of plant and animal species and the rising sea levels due to rise in temperature will effect the life of millions of people throughout the world. The UN conference also indicated the global warming and environmental degradation is at more advanced stage than expected. The International Panel on Climate Change reported that due to rapid loss of the polar ice caps, the global emissions will reach the peak by 2015 and then be cut by between 50% and 85% by 2050 .The main aim of the developing nations is to reduce the level of carbon dioxide. The Asian leaders signed a memorandum of understanding between various nations to take a pledge on controlling the environment and action against climate change, which may consist of the use of nuclear energy. Greenhouse gas emissions, mainly the carbon dioxide gas is being predicted to almost double by 2030 and atmospheric temperature till 2100 could increase by more than 1.1C to 6.4C, alongwith sea level rise from 0.18m to 0.59m by 2100. The highly educated world regards global warming as dangerous with regard to environment degradation. Scientists predict that what will be future of carbon dioxide in 21st century is a matter of thinking and very important in relation to natural ecosystems of the world. Due to increase in population and rise in increase of fossil fuels, the percentage of carbon dioxide is going to increase on account of increased emissions by automobiles and fossil fuel using factories. The environment is getting polluted as whole and environmental scientists throughout the world are working hard on global warming in relation to the environment. They further predicted that there is a gap between the low and high ends of the various plant and animal species, which are on road to extinction by 2050. The collective data indicated the change of climate from 15 to 35 percent and the risk of extinction of thousands of plant and animal species. Research scientists warned that the crisis of global warming is even worse than their earlier predictions.
