Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal reviewed the progress of development works in Sectors 76 to 80, Mohali. He directed the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) to complete the remaining development works in all the five sectors by June 30, 2008. He also directed the GMADA to hold draw of lots for the allotment of remaining 2,400 residential plots in these sectors and hand over the possession to the allottees at the earliest. Secretary, housing and urban development department, Arun Goel, also apprised the Chief Minister of the progress of works. He said almost all the development works pertaining to roads, public health services and streetlights in Sector 79-80 had been completed. However, in view of the go-ahead given by the courts, development works on the area under litigation (which is almost 30 per cent of the total area) had been undertaken after floating fresh tenders.
He added that in Sectors 77 and 78 approximately 25 per cent of the road network area was under litigation. Water supply, storm drainage and sewerage schemes, electrical and road works had been allocated recently on a time-bound basis with a target to complete these works by June 30, 2008.
