Chandigarh : Adviser to the UT Administrator, Mr. Pradip Mehra today inaugurated the British Library revamped children Section and exhibition of new Children Books, DVDs and CD-ROMs.British Library Children section has been refurbished and renovated to make it more children friendly. The refurbishing of the Children section is giving a fresh look to the section and would cater to the needs of the children of different age groups.On the occasion, Mr. Mehra said that books are a mans best friend and library is a classic source of general information. He also said, In todays techno-savvy world, internet has provided an easy access to all kinds of information but everything on internet is neither reliable nor free-ofcharge.Mr. Mehra interacted informally with the school children and said friendship with the books would be life long. He also emphasized that children should visit the libraries and especially their children section. Todays children are very lucky as they have very good accessibility to books through libraries in cities and schools, he added. Adviser also said that children must read books as through reading different books they get to know about various things like different cultures, countries, human nature etc.The revamping of the Childrens section includes stock of 500 new titles, 100 DVDs and CD-ROMs and also outdated books are removed.Manager, British Library, Mr. Bipin Kumar, students from DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, Sacred Soul School, Gharuan, Kharar and Ryan International School, Sector 48 and other distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
